When you visit us here at London Dental Practice for your mouth cancer screening, we’ll first visually check your mouth for any red or white spots that could indicate any cause for concern. Then, we’ll feel in the mouth with gloved hands for any growths, sores, or swelling.
We might also use a special screening dye or light that can help us more easily determine whether there are any abnormal cells present. When using the dye, abnormal cells show up blue, while under the screening light, they will appear white.
If we find anything that causes us concern, we will either arrange a follow-up appointment, refer you to a specialist, or arrange for a biopsy.
