What are implant retained dentures?

Implant retained dentures are dentures that are held in place by a titanium screw that performs the function of the tooth ‘root’. This means no more messy adhesive and no more slippage which can often lead to further complications such as bone loss in the jaw.

How are implant retained dentures fitted?

Implant retained dentures are usually fitted over two separate appointments. At the first appointment, we will affix the titanium screws – the implant – into the jawbone. There will then be a wait of a few months to allow time for the implant and the jawbone to fuse together. During this time, we’ll fit you with a temporary denture.

When the implant and the jaw have successfully fused together, you can return to us here at the practice, where we’ll fit you with your new denture. The entire treatment can take up to seven months to complete, but the end result is a comfortable, secure denture that looks as good as it feels.
